Is that a miniature golf course going up at Sunset Beach, along side the Higbee Beach Wildlife Refuge?
Years ago, the state bought the property at the end of Sunset Boulevard on the Delaware Bay and added it to the Higbee Beach Wildlife Management Area.
The State Department of Environmental Protection has been spending lots of taxpayers’ money and working very hard to get plants and trees to grow on the 150 acre bayfront site.

Now it looks like some cedar trees have been taken out and a miniature golf course is being installed.

The state DEP says they know nothing about a golf course. They say the only plans they have for the site are “to restore the habitat for migrating birds.”
But the state’s Coastal Area Facility Review Act office (CAFRA) says yes, a golf course was ok’d for a strip of private land right next to the refuge.
CAFRA says no state permits were needed because the site has fewer than 50 parking spaces.
