We were in the area last week from PA. Took the ferry over to Delaware where they are using some of these. Very easy and it is nice to see mother nature instead of boxes. We had one box for about 10 cars. It was a nice improvement. Kudo's. And to answer some of the other statements. #13 Tom, I will never stop coming to Cape May. Silly, when you don't have the sand and the ocean...you will pay just about anything to be near one. Even for a weeks vacation. #9 Really, so many of you are making it harder then it is. You don't have to walk many spaces to get to the meter. And it is not like a little exercise is gonna kill you. The meter is very user friendly. Most of you can handle a COMPUTER by now, you can handle this. And as far as robbing the citizens of Cape May...no chance. What you don't understand is, change is good. This is cutting down on all those metal monsters. And as far as looking for other shore points...wake up and smell the coffee. This is a resort town. The businesses come here and charge you hugh sums of money for junk you could buy at a dollar store, or department store. No one makes you spend your money there. Cape May has a Kmart, Walmart and others. You come there, knowing that it is a resort town. Be smart, parking is bad everywhere. You must take a little bad with the good. You see, it is not just the locals paying for it. But the vacationers must cough it up as well. The old meters, were just that....OLD. And you had to keep feeding them too. If you think there is a problem with parking. Come up with a solution, don't complain. Become active, become involved. Attend meetings with your town. Make a differance. If you don't speak up....how will you be heard.

Cape May is out of control. Hope you're happy with your new meters. I have a feeling they'll pay for themselves pretty fast, but at what price to your visitors, or do you care?

This is typical Democrat beaurocracy at its best. "Hey, let's confuse th hell out of out tourist so we can generate more money through fines, rather than giving back to the tourist that spend their hard earned money here. Who cares if they don't come back; we'll get the next tourist that gets confused." Eventually, the word will get out and no one will want to come all the way to Cape May. Then you can increase the property tax on the locals even higher. GOP thinking is, "the more you give, the more you get." Good luck, Cape May business owners.

These new meters are also being placed along Jackson Street as well as the other streets listed in the above article. Will these meters mean more revenue for the city? With the old meters, if a space was left before time ran out, the new occupant would benefit. If this happens with the new meters, maybe no "existing time" will show. That means everytime a space is occupied new time must be purchased -- thus more money for the city. Actually this type of system is in effect at various locations including NYC and the Toms River Park and Ride. So it is nothing new.

WE HAVE BEEN COMING TO CAPE MAY TWICE A YEAR FOR THE LAST 16 YEARS. WE HAVE WATCHED THE GROWTH OF THE CITY AND THE GROWTH OF THE GREED. AS TOURISTS WE HAVE A CHOICE TO VISIT OR TO FIND A NEW SEASIDE RESORT, BUT YOUR MERCHANTS HAVE NO CHOICE. AT THE END OF THE SEASON, WHEN THE REVENUE IS DOWN, THEY CAN ALWAYS ASK THE CITY FOR A KICKBACK FROM THE PARKING METERS.
WAKE UP PEOPLE OF CAPE MAY, YOUR LEADERS ARE STEALING YOUR CITY.
WONDERFUL CITY.
